The delivery from LG direct was flawless, I didn't opt for the installation as this was replacing my existing wall mounted TV, I also had no need for the supplied wall mount, however I can see that this would be a benefit.
According to the manual, the LG G4 65" TV includes the latest iteration of Brightness Booster Max, which comprises a cutting edge MLA (Micro Lens Array) panel and Light Control Architecture, coupled with new light boosting algorithms able to maximise peak brightness and near shadow detail, the blacks are really BLACK.
One thing I am impressed with is the brightness. The G4 has noticeably improved dynamics, with exceptional highlights and deep black blacks.
But there’s another advantage and that’s colour vibrancy. The LG G4 offers a lushness of hue which is amazing, all without over saturation.
I've used the G4 in Filmmaker mode, standard mode and the new AI Picture Pro mode, and it’s this that I think is the most interesting. The set is able to dynamically manage the picture based on what is being played or streamed, without having to change any settings and this works very well.
If the input is formatted for HDR then hold on to your eyeballs as the G4 turns on HDR10 and impressively the screen come to life.
Looking at the online manual, all four HDMI inputs support 4k 120Hz, but there’s also the option of a 144Hz mode specifically for PC gaming.
This makes the G4 the world’s first NVIDIA G-Sync 144Hz validate TV according to the LG and NVIDIA websites.
The G4 also has the option for AI audio, again powered by the new Alpha 11 AI processor. According to the manual, there’s virtual 11.1.2 channel audio from any source, as well as Voice Remastering. This uses AI to enhance and isolate the audio depending on the content being played.
The LG OLED65G4 is an amazing TV. It’s picture performance is jaw-droppingly flawless and would happily recommend it to anyone who can afford the price!
